CKPM Group specialises in repairing concrete cancer which refers to the rusting of steel reinforcement within concrete. This occurs when the steel is exposed to air or water. It begins to erode and expand, creating tiny cracks or spalling in the surrounding concrete.
Not only can this look unpleasing, but this can also cause further damage to the building that can be inconvenient, timely and expensive to rectify. Concrete spalling can also be hazardous when it becomes a safety issue for tenants or walkways below the repairs in need of attention.
Exclusion zones are put in place when repairs are being completed. CK provide multiple safety measures to ensure no falling objects will affect the general public areas surrounding your building.
We apply a high-quality Waterproofing membrane application after the concrete repairs have been completed. This will reduce the risk of your building being affected by concrete cancer again once the repairs have been finalised. Applying a waterproofing membrane will keep out the moisture which is one of the main causes of concrete cancer.
All affected concrete is removed along with any associated brickwork. We then get to the structural level where we grind back any reinforcing steel and eliminate all rust. Any rusted steel will be removed and reinforced. Our job is to treat the steel with anti-corrosive membranes. We then work to replace any brick work and restore the original concrete.
